Happy Founders Day!

March 17, 2009
Oxford, Ohio

Dear Phi Taus and Friends,

A little more than 100 years ago, four brave men, united in spirit, kinship and a desire for change, had a vision to create a new fraternity based on democracy, equality, integrity and brotherhood. This new dawn brought forth PHI KAPPA TAU, an organization in which men of character chartered a path to brotherhood defined by a mark of distinction.

Today we honor our founders’ character, determination and commitment to create Phi Kappa Tau. From our first days in Oxford, Ohio, generations of brothers have built bridges to last across Phi Tau land. We are all part of a Phi Tau generation; we all carry the obligation of our Cardinal principles to take care of each other and those who follow. The bonds that we have built to last are founded on courage, reinforced by character and sustained by commitment. I’m especially proud to see this commitment on display through the hundreds of brothers who already participated in our Founders Month of Service.

This is a life-long journey that we take but once. We will build and cross many bridges and experience the twists and turns of fate that ultimately will lead us to that rising star of Phi, Kappa and Tau. Stay with the journey, stay true to who we are.

On our 103rd birthday, remember our founders and those who continue to serve their enduring ideals of democracy, integrity, equality and brotherhood. These principles are just as important to the Fraternity today as they were more than 100 years ago.

Happy birthday Phi Kappa Tau! Wear your PKT letters today!

Fraternally,

William C. Macak, Florida State '73
