Phi Kappa Tau Launches New Website, Facebook Application
September 1, 2009
Oxford, Ohio
Phi Kappa Tau and The GIN (Group Interactive Network) System launched a new www.phikappatau.org and Facebook application Sept. 1. The new national site combines information from both The Link and old brochure site, while the Facebook application serves as the Fraternity’s major networking tool. The national site is public, while the Facebook application is 100-percent voluntary.
Within the new national site, look for:
- The Exchange. Formerly the Resource Library, The Exchange will provide easily accessible chapter officer information, Phi Tau history and resources for a successful life. At the end of September, the Fraternity’s first webinar will launch on the site, with more to follow.
- Chapter and Alumni Association Locators. Find out if your chapter has taken advantage of the Fraternity’s free chapter websites. Alumni from chapters that are not currently active also have the opportunity to maintain a site for Graduate Council business. Visit www.phitaugin.com to learn more or www.utk.phikappatau.org to peruse a live site.
- PKT Network. If you aren’t already a member of Phi Kappa Tau’s LinkedIn group, YouTube channel or Twitter page, find links to these sites and get connected!
- Phi Tau Events. Newly revamped, Phi Tau events features a calendar view so you can find out about and view details of upcoming events in one click. Visit the new Facebook application to suggest an event for the calendar, or e-mail webmaster@phikappatau.org.
- Downloads. Looking for Phi Tau graphics, music or videos? Use these resources for recruiting efforts, printing or personal use.
- Recommend a Potential Brother. If you know a current or future student who would make a great leader, fill out a recommendation form so we can expand our ranks. If you know a student at a school where a Phi Tau chapter does not exist, fill out the form for expansion consideration.
The Facebook application features:
- Members Searchability. Find members by chapter, state, industry, profession or specific location.
- Groups. Find Phi Tau Facebook groups to further your Fraternity network.
- Discussion Boards. Share ideas and best practices, network and discuss interests with other Phi Taus.
- PKT Events, News Feed and Announcements. Learn about upcoming events, Fraternity news and announcements.
- Resources. Easily access Phi Tau and general Greek resources.
- PKT Points. Receive participation point and rewards for using the application.
The Link and Resource Library will stay live for the rest of the year before moving to “archive” status. Our intent is to allow you time to transition to our new site and other technology offerings.
Two years ago, the Fraternity embarked on a new technology initiative to define the direction of Phi Tau in its second century, The Link, our members-only website, was intended to support the five statements of action in the Fraternity’s strategic plan: alignment, recruitment, service, education and leadership, and improve our infrastructure to better support members, chapter and programs.
While The Link and Resource Library have served many purposes—a warehouse for Phi Tau information, news and resources, networking tool for undergraduates and alumni, and chapter reporting system—we want to build upon that innovation and improve our ability to share information, offer more learning opportunities and provide for greater networking among brothers.
